Satire best practices

Guidelines for creating satirical content for contributors

  • Clearly indicate that the content is satire in the headline and include a disclaimer at the beginning of the article to avoid confusion.
  • Use phrases such as "satire," "parody," or "spoof" in the body of the article as well as the title to signal to readers that the content is not meant to be taken literally.

Maintain plausibility

  • Satirical content should have a basis in reality to make it more convincing and humorous.
    • However you must: Avoid spreading misinformation or making false claims that could be interpreted as factual.

Use humor responsibly

  • Satirical content should aim to entertain and provoke thought without inciting hatred, violence, or discrimination.
  • Maintain a balance between humor and sensitivity, avoiding topics that are excessively controversial or sensitive.
  • An excessive misuse could lead to your permanent removal from the site
