At NewsBreak, transparency is paramount. We have implemented three account labels within our Contributor Network to help users identify the content’s source. These labels serve as identifiers and do not imply endorsement or quality assurance. By knowing where their news and information is coming from, users can make informed decisions about the information they consume.
Community Voice
The Community Voice label is the introductory designation granted to all third-party users joining NewsBreak’s Contributor Program. These members share insights on local information or other topics close to their hearts. Community Voices have not self-verified their accounts but are expected, like all users, to adhere to our Community Standards.
Writer
The Writer label is for those who have completed the self-verification process, demonstrating credibility on other reputable writing platforms such as Medium, Substack, Muckrack, LinkedIn and others. Writers may receive additional benefits such as increased visibility, priority in content placement and/or access to exclusive features.
Contributor
The Contributor label is reserved for members who have self-verified their accounts and demonstrated their ability to produce timely and consequential news. Similar to Writers, Contributors may receive additional benefits such as increased visibility and/or access to exclusive features.
Criteria to apply for a Writer label:
- Must have an active NewsBreak Contributor account.
- Must demonstrate a presence on another writing platform and provide proof of account ownership on that platform.
Criteria to apply for a Contributor label:
- Must be approved for monetization (certain exceptions may apply.)
- No active strikes.
- Must use your real name or a well-established pen name (names containing "news" might not be approved, with certain exceptions.)
- Provide links to at least 5 previously published news articles on other reputable sources within the last 5 years (exceptions may apply to those with supporting documentation proving their credibility.)
Meeting the above requirements does not automatically guarantee the account label; the decision rests solely with NewsBreak. NewsBreak reserves the right to revoke the "Contributor" label at its discretion and without prior notice, and for any reason.
